Greater Knoxville Recorder Society

Introduction

The Greater Knoxville Chapter of the American Recorder Society was formed in 1995 to promote early music performance in east Tennessee and neighboring states.  The group explores a wide variety of music which includes repertoire from the Medieval through Contemporary periods.

Instrumentation is principally recorders augmented by viol, crumhorn, cornamuse, psaltery, harp, a variety of percussion, cornetto, sackbut and serpent. Meetings are held one Saturday a month, and are open to anyone having an interest in early music performance (all levels are welcome).

At Greater Knoxville Recorder Society meetings we typically play as one group led by our music director, Robin Stone. Please see the Schedule and Contact pages for more information.

Knoxville Recorder Society is coordinated by a steering committee composed of Robin Stone, Pam Hindle, Ann Meyers, Wendy Syer, and Holly Gwin.
